In-game data

If you connect the optional online features, the following is sent to our backend (Supabase): a pseudonymous account id, your chosen Navi name, level, rank, step count and (for the live hub) your in-room position and chat messages. No email, phone number or precise location is collected. (An email address is only stored if you voluntarily link your account by email.)

Legal basis: providing the online/multiplayer features you choose to use (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in operating and securing the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Connecting online is optional.

Chat messages are visible to other players in the same room. Do not share personal information in chat.

Health & step data

The game counts steps to fill the Cyber Meter. On the phone it uses the built-in step counter (Apple "Motion & Fitness", or the Android step sensor). If you allow it, we additionally read your daily step total from Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android) — that is the only way steps measured by a smartwatch ever reach the game. Read access only: nothing is written back, and no other health category (heart rate, workouts, clinical records) is requested.

This permission is optional and can be withdrawn at any time — on iOS under Settings › Privacy & Security › Health, on Android in the Health Connect app. If you also switch on the optional online features, your daily step total — which may include those watch steps — is stored in your profile and is visible to players you have added as friends (Link Power). It is never used for advertising and never passed on to third parties. Legal basis: your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR), given in the system dialog.

Website analytics & cookies

This promotional website uses Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd., with Google LLC, USA). The Google tag and analytics cookies are not loaded at all by default and are only loaded if you select “Accept” in the cookie banner (Google Consent Mode v2). If you decline, no Google tag is loaded and no analytics cookies are set.

When enabled, Google Analytics processes pseudonymous usage data such as pages viewed, approximate region, device/browser type and referral source. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time with effect for the future by clearing this site’s storage in your browser. We do not run ads and do not sell your data.

The beta sign-up form is handled by Formspree (Formspree, Inc., USA). The email address you submit is processed on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), solely to notify you about testing and release; you can ask to be removed at any time by emailing us.

Hosting & processors

The website is hosted by Vercel; the optional in-game online features run on Supabase. These providers process data on our behalf under data-processing agreements, only as described above.

International transfers

Google and Formspree may process data on servers in the USA. Such transfers are safeguarded by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and/or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Retention

Cloud game data is kept until you delete it in the app (“Delete data”) or request deletion. Your sign-up email is kept until you ask to be removed. Google Analytics data is retained for up to 14 months and only while your consent is active. Local data on your device stays until you clear it.

Children

This project is not directed at children under 16. If you are under 16, please obtain the consent of a parent or guardian before using the online features. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and to object to processing. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future. You can erase your cloud data directly in the app (“Delete data”) or request it by email.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority — in Germany, the authority of your federal state. The authority competent for this project is the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen (LDI NRW).
